Economically Independent women will uplift society: Telangana Guv

Hyderabad: The Indian Women Network (IWN) an initiative for women by Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) on Friday organised the CII-IWN Telangana Annual Leadership Conclave 2022 in Hyderabad. 'Uplift – Independent | Focused | Inspired 'was the theme of the conclave.

While addressing the audience at the conference, ,of Telangana and Lt Governor of Puducherry, said: "Women are natural leaders and need to change the thought process to change the mind-set of the society, the parents need to empower the girl child especially in the rural or tribal areas. An Empowered woman will become economically independent and uplift the family and the society. We need to build the confidence in the girls at young age so that they naturally become powerful."

Governor continued: "Women should decide what they want to do and need to be emotionally balanced. The family should understand that priorities of the women and support them." She also mentioned that business persons should think about how to empower the downtrodden people and extend support to them. "If a woman is happy then entire family would be happy," she added.

Vagish Dixit Chairman, CII Telangana & Managing Director, Alpla India Pvt Ltd, said: "The organizations need to question themselves all the time on whether they are doing enough to create an equitable workplace for women. achieving gender equality requires engagement of all stakeholders including society. CII's Indian Women Network is working tirelessly to uplift the women at work through various interventions such as mentorship program, regular conferences and workshops etc."

Dr A Pranathi Reddy, Clinical Director – Obstetrician & Gynaecologist, Rainbow Hospital for Women and Children said:"Women are very good muti taskers and give attention to most of the tasks except on financial matters. Many a times they may not have enough time or do not do sufficient research and hands over the tasks to other family members. Women need map their long term and short-term financial needs at a young age keeping the goals such as education, marriage, personal assets."

Shobha Dixit, Chairwoman, IWN Southern Region, said: "Setting financial goals gives clear objectives to work toward and plan for, aligning income, investments and expenses with a desired outcome. Because circumstances can change greatly throughout the life, it is critical to regularly review and update the goals. Technological advancement brings opportunity. Pervasive use of social media amplifies the voices of women. Technology makes entrepreneurship more accessible, enabling women to launch and nurture successful business ventures of their own."

Dr Uma Aysola, Chairwoman, IWN Telangana, said: Despite growing global efforts, women's financial inclusion has made little progress over the past decade. Women continue to face greater financial exclusion and vulnerability, with shocks like the Covid-19 pandemic threatening to reverse some of the gains made so far. Being financially included can have transformative effects for women. Financial inclusion is about empowering women to increase their financial autonomy, bargaining-power, and self-esteem, while reducing their exposure to risks. It is about improving women livelihoods and building a more equitable and sustainable future for all."
